The mission of Sisters in Crime has always been to give a voice to those without. It is now time for the First Nation Australians to have a Voice.
Hundreds of Australian writers, agents, booksellers, and publishers are now supporting the Writers for the Voice initiative which was started by Nicole Abadee and Jane Novak, a Sydney Sisters in Crime member. A sleuth of Sisters in Crime author members has already signed up.

The 23rd Davitt Awards Ceremony on 2 September was booked out and a huge success. Debi Marshall, the Walkley-award winning investigative journalist and true-crime author, presented the awards after discussing her amazing life in crime with Emily Webb, true crime author and podcaster (and former Davitt Judge). Six wonderul books won awards.
Nicki Thornton, the award-winning children’s writer from Oxfordshire, England, is our guest author for the August Murder Monday. The Interpreter, Brooke Robinson’s debut novel, explores the power of language to bring – or avoid – justice. Its protagonist, Revelle Lee, is a court interpreter in London. She’s supposed to be impartial, in order to change the course of a trial she intentionally mistranslates a couple of words. The result is a compelling, twisty thriller.
Sisters in Crime has announced its shortlist for its 23rd Davitt Awards for the best crime and mystery books – eight adult novels, four YA adults, three children’s novels, three non-fiction books, and six debut novels (most of which are nominated in other categories) – but it’s not disproportionate given that 144 books are in contention!
