Broadbeach Library invites you to a Sisters in Crime panel of authors who will reveal what it takes to keep you on the edge of your seat! Hear from Megan Norris, Lily Arthur, Loraine Peck, Tina Marie Clark, and Kate Kelson.

Nicole Chamoun, star of Troppo, will present Sisters in Crime’s 29th Scarlet Stiletto Awards for best short stories in collaboration with award-winning author and podcaster, Vikki Petraitis, at a gala ceremony at South Melbourne’s Rising Sun Hotel. Ditch lockdown and Melbourne’s signature black and go troppo –a prize for the best outfit.

Everyone is welcome to the first Sisters in Crime SA event for 2023. Wednesday 8 February at the Seven Stars Hotel. Meet the authors Vikki Wakefield, Mercedes Mercier and Nina Campbell and hear about their latest books and the writing process in a panel Q and A event. There will be a networking opportunity prior to the panel session, with finger food and a beverage upon entry.

VICTORIAN EVENT: Three Victorian authors – Ellie Marney, Louise Bassett, and A M Stuart – explore with Janice Simpson – the joys and pitfalls with setting crime novels in more than one country.
What are the challenges in getting the cultural differences right, in crafting the language, and, in making it accessible to a diverse readership. And then there are all the issues in involved in publishing, distribution, promotion and appearances . . .

MELBOURNE EVENT: Crime doesn’t always have to be bloody and gory, as new books by Elizabeth Coleman, Kerryn Mayne, and Ilsa Evans prove. Crime can make us laugh as well as gasp. It can sweep up illicit affairs, secret diaries, family mysteries, sibling rivalry, visions of danger, embezzlement, and catfishing in its felonious embrace – not to mention an acutely intelligent miniature schnauzer, Miss Marple.

Three new novels by Australian women dive deep into the murky world of the criminal justice system – The Double Bind, the sequel to Loraine Peck’s The Second Son; Mali Waugh’s debut novel, Judgement Day; and Katherine Kovacic’s Seven Sisters.

The authors will debate the law and the lawless in all dimensions with Maggie Baron, the inaugural president of Sisters in Crime.

Sisters in Crime Australia is again proud to join forces with the Sir Zelman Cowen Centre, Victoria University, to present its 17th Law Week event. An expert panel, Elena Campbell, Ahona Guha, and Sherele Moody, chaired by Bronwyn Naylor will debate how to combat toxic masculinity and the violence perpetrated against women.
