Frock up (or suit up) and join us as we present the Sisters in Crime’s 25th Davitt Awards for best crime novels by Australian women – at new-to-us venue in central Melbourne, Angliss Restaurant. You may want to wear a touch of silver to mark the 25th anniversary.

Guest presenter: Ellie Marney. Multi-award winning author and global publishing phenomenon. Ellie Marney won the Davitt Award (Best Young Adult Novel) in 2015 and was highly commended in 2018. She is a regular resident on the New York Times Bestseller List for her titles for both teens and adults.

Cate Kennedy the multi published author who is guest at the Davitt Awards 2025

Host: Cate Kennedy. Writing across many genres including fiction, poetry and non fiction, Cate Kennedy is one of Australia’s most admired and awarded short-story writers. She have twice won the Scarlet Stiletto Award, has twice won The Age Short Story Competition, and won a NSW Premier’s Literary Award in 2010 for her novel The World Beneath.

Cate will talk with Ellie about her life in crime before the awards are announced.

Angliss Restaurant is the live training facility for the hospitality students at the William Angliss Institute, Melbourne’s prestigious hospitality, tourism and culinary arts training centre. OpenTable calls it “Melbourne’s best value dining experience” and TripAdvisor says it is “perhaps the best kept secret in Melbourne … with beautifully prepared gourmet … dinners”. Expect fine dining in a professional restaurant setting, with a cash bar.

This is an accessible venue with ramp and lift. Please note that the booking process asks for special dietary requirements and whether a mobility-friendly seating allocation is required.
