We are thrilled to announce that the Readers Choice Award has been renamed in honour and memory of one of Australia’s greatest and most beloved crime writers: Kerry Greenwood. Always a great supporter of Sisters in Crime Australia and of women who write crime, Kerry paved the way, slashed through the jungle, on behalf of all women crime writers and our hearts are full that her life partner, David Greagg, agreed to this honour.
This award is exactly what it says: Sisters in Crime Australia members voting for their choice of crime book published by Australian women in 2024. Members get one vote each only and have been sent an email with the list of books that qualify and the link to vote.
Voting closes at 11.59pm on 31 July 2025.

Want to know more? Kerry Greenwood is best known for her creation, the divine and fearless Miss Phryne Fisher, who appeared in 22 books, one omnibus and two collections of short stories. The books became a internationally popular TV series and even a movie, and spawned another TV series set in the 1960s, Ms Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries. Kerry published many, many more books, fiction and non fiction, but her Phryne stories are the one that most captured readers hearts and imaginations.
Vale Kerry Greenwood OAM. 17 June 1954 to 26 March 2025.
