October 18, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

What did happen to Agatha Christie during her mysterious eleven-day disappearance just as she was on the cusp of fame? Mixing fact and fantasy, Kristel Thornell has written an entrancing novel of creativity and grief. She reconstructs Christie’s retreat from a life that had become too difficult.

Kristel will be in conversation with Sisters in Crime’s Lucy Sussex at Readings Hawthorn. 701 Glenferrie Rd. 6 for 6.30pm Tuesday 18 October

Kristel Thornell’s debut work of fiction, Night Street, was the co-winner of the Vogel’s award in 2009 and was much acclaimed when published in 2010. On the Blue Train is her second novel.

Lucy Sussex was born in New Zealand. She works across genres, with particular interests in women’s lives, crime and Victoriana. Her award-winning fiction includes the novel, The Scarlet Rider (1996). She has five short story collections, including Matilda Told Such Dreadful Lies (a best of). Her latest book, Blockbuster!: Fergus Hume and The Mystery of a Hansom Cab (Text, 2015), won the Victorian Community History Award.
