Jane loves books and has always written about them. She was born in England, came to Melbourne in 1979, and worked at The Age as a reporter, feature writer, and editor. She won the inaugural Australian Human Rights Award for journalism.
She’s written for Griffith Review, the Australian Book Review. She has reviewed books for ABC Radio National’s Books and Arts program – and currently, she contributes to The Age and the Sydney Morning Herald, writing features and her Saturday column, Turning Pages, about … of course … books and writing! She has been a judge for Sisters in Crime’s Davitt Awards several times.
Jane is the author of three novels, Little People, The White Star, and Murder in Punch Lane, her first crime novel, plus a memoir, Storytime.
Murder in Punch Lane is set in Melbourne in 1868, and inspired by real events and people.
