We haven’t spoken to Jacqueline since 2022 when she won an amazing two Sisters in Crime’s Davitt Awards for Before You Knew My Name – Best Debut Book and the Readers’ Choice award. The judges – and members of Sisters in Crime who voted for the Readers’ Choice award – were fascinated by Before You Knew My Name.
The narrator is Alice Lee, an 18-year-old who is murdered a month after arriving in New York. This is a bold concept but amazingly works.
Jacqueline also won two Ngaio Marsh Awards for Before You Knew My Name and was the only woman to be shortlisted for the Gold Dagger Awards UK in 2022. She splits her time between New Zealand and Australia. Her nickname is ‘Rock’.
Her latest novel is Leave the Girls Behind.

Murder Monday interviews are available on Sisters in Crime’s YouTube channel at 6 pm once a month on a Monday.
