Multi-award-winning Sydney author, Hayley Scrivenor, spoke to Sisters in Crime’s Jacq Ellem For the November Murder Monday.

Hayley’s debut, Dirt Town, was a number-one bestseller in Australia and won several awards, including the UK Crime Writers’ Association New Blood Dagger Award, the ABIA for General Fiction Book of the Year, a Lambda Literary Award and Sisters in Crime’s Davitt Award for best debut book in 2023. At the Davitt award ceremony, it was hard to tell who was happier – Hayley or her mother!
The book was published as Dirt Creek in North America, where it was a USA TODAY bestseller. Her second novel, Girl Falling, was published in July and will come out internationally in 2025.
Hayley is a former Director of Wollongong Writers Festival. Originally from a small country town, she has a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Wollongong.
