Murder Monday: Hannah Richell

For the December Murder Monday, Sisters in Crime’s Jacq Ellem spoke to Hannah Richell, dual citizen of the UK and Australia, and author of four international bestselling novels – Secrets of the Tides (2012), The Shadow Year (2014), The Peacock Summer (2019) and The River Home (2020).

Hannah’s latest novel is The Search Party (out very soon with Simon & Schuster).

Hannah’s work has been translated into twenty-one languages. Her books have been selected for the Richard & Judy Book Club, the Waterstones Book Club, WHSmith Book of the Week, shortlisted for two ABIAs and an Indie Book Award in Australia, as well as shortlisted for the Bonniers Bokklubb Book of the Year Award in Sweden.

While each of her novels is a stand-alone story, what connects them all is her fascination with families and secrets, and her ambition to tell a cracking story.

Hannah is a judge on the annual Richell Prize, established in 2014 by Hachette and the Emerging Writers’ Festival in memory of her late husband, Matt Richell.
