Emylia started writing novels in 2012 but, luckily, for us, she turned to crime in 2023 with The Shell House Detectives, the first in her series to feature exploits of sleuthing duo Ally and Jayden and the people in and around the fictional village of Porthpella.

A review at the time described Emylia as a ‘hugely compelling new voice’. The book became a Kindle Top 10 bestseller, and the rights have been optioned for TV by Playground Entertainment.

The Shell House Detectives was quickly followed by The Harbour Lights Mystery, The Rockpool Murder, and The Death at the Vineyard in 2024. Her books have been described as ‘contemporary cosy crime’ and are inspired by her love of Cornwall’s wild landscape.

The latest in the series, The Arts Trail Killer, is out this month
