Open invitation: Launch of Award Winning Australian Writing 2017

You are warmly invited to attend an evening of literature and light refreshments in Melbourne’s historical Athenaeum Library to enjoy readings by AWAW‘s writers and buy a copy of this year’s anthology.

This collection features over fifty writers and awards, including the winners of the Elizabeth Jolly Short Story Prize, The Bruce Dawe Poetry Prize, The Dorothea Mackellar awards and several Overland prizes, and contains a foreword by multi-award-winning author, Margo Lanagan.

The collection includes Ruth Wykes’s story, “Stone Cold” ,which won Sisters in Crime’s 2016 Scarlet Stiletto trophy plus The Text Publishing First Prize ($1500).  The story is about a small town torn apart when a seven-year-old boy goes missing. Wykes also won the Scriptworks Great Film Idea Award ($200) for the same story.

This beautiful edition of AWAW, its milestone 10th anniversary, continues its tradition of sharing the best short stories and poems that have won competitions around the country.
